I've applied names and typings to maps before, and while i'm aware that most people will probably keep their maps secret going into moncon, since we will no doubt all be playing one another.

Which maps do you expect to face?

I feel that knowing which maps will be most prominently represented is almost as important as knowing which monsters will be present.

No doubt, some jerk will be toting killer canals. Robert mayhaps?

Zach Bunn will be using Smashville/block war :p.

What will you be using?

I won't be there, but if I was, I'd bring along Mean Streets or Downtown Beatdown.

I won't be there, either. My map is Skull Island, though. Grapple in the Garden for some monsters, and Wrecking Ball and Highway to Hellview at other favorites.

It pays to practice on all of them, though.

We were allowed to bring only 1 map for our list at AdeptiCon. I think four of the top eight were using Downtown Beatdown. That doesn't really mean anything other than it was a popular map on Finals day.

Just started play testing today, so I'm still thinking map choice for MonCon. If I go Planet Eaters, something with teleporters will probably be a top pick.

I know a lot of people that like downtown beatdown if only b/c if it has a few truely safe secure points for first turn.

I agree that planet eaters will need teleporters, as will moles.

I truly love wrecking ball. It's my favorite osh map atm. All other monsters, riverside rampage.

I also love Wrecking Ball, and even more because it's flip side is Grapple in the Garden. I've noticed that many map pairs play to certain strategies, but the flip side is often bad for the same strategy or force. Wrecking Ball/GitG both offer alternative choices without really hurting you too much, once you know them well.

I'm seeing a lot more mini cities, open cities and killer canals (with Anglax or destroyers) on Vassal.

I would definitely prepare against these situations as such.
