Mastering Monsterpocalypse: Gakura

Strategy: Take back to back monster turns until my opponent runs off crying for his mom.

Tactics: Demolish + Blitz to disrupt and damage, Airborne = Radial Attack, Stealth Ape + blue berserk is 1337.

The best building (particularly with Gakura) is the electrical power plant. With insurance you get 7 p-die without p-die you get 6 for a 4 defense building. Using blitz allows you to avoid the damage while potentially damaging your opponent.

Strengths: Very aggressive and keep your opponent on their toes.

Weaknesses: Being so aggressive if you go even one turn to far you can cost yourself the game.

Comments:
Andrew Brannan says: I had the misfortune of being on the receiving end of a combo in a recent sealed booster tourney. I had ended my turn next to a Power plant (foolish beyond belief, I know), and next to an Airborne Ape. On my opponent's next Unit turn, he combined blasted the Power Plant, led by the Airborne Ape. Two points of Monster damage, book it, done.

Brian Curtis says: Interesting list. Consider using one of the remaining open building slots for an Oil Refinery, I find Gakura's biggest shortcoming is his move of 6. Other than that, some Sports Arenas can really help out those stealth apes. Nov 25, 2009

Zach Bunn says: Yes, his speed definitely is hindering at times and on certain maps. Nov 25, 2009

Sam Collins says: Just load up on electrical plants and apartment buildings. Put the plants alongside apartment buildings or another plant and then every time you demolish and blitz you can potentially deal 4 damage (2demolish and 2 from live wire) or deal damage and hell. thats if hes not paying attention if he is paying attention hell hide in a corner and cry or waste 3 turns clearing the plants so he has a safe path.
